Length: 15-20 meters
This route is often in best condition during late season so make sure not to miss it. A 10m, vertical, and often chandeliered curtain at the start of the climb poses the crux. Once atop the curtain a short a easy section of ice will lead up to the finish. Hint – if mixed climbing is your thing, don’t miss checking out the rock walls on the opposite side of the canyon.

ALERT: The Eklutna Canyon drainage is private property belonging to Eklutna Incorporated and their website indicates ice climbing is not allowed on their property. It is strongly suggested that before venturing into the canyon, check with the climbing groups within the community regarding the current access status for the canyon. Alaska State Parks require vehicles parking in the Thunderbird Falls Trailhead parking lot to have a current Alaska State Parks parking pass.

After a 30 - 45 minute hike up the canyon one will find this climb. It is located on the south side of the canyon and is the next obvious falls after Boonesfarm. A short hike of approximately 50-80 feet up the hill and through alder brush will bring you to the base of the climb.
