The climbs in the Tunnel Section require a long approach but the reward is great. A snow machine is a must unless you like 10 plus mile approaches on foot. Park at the Placer River pullout on the south side of the highway and head up river. After passing the backside of Tincan Peak and the Spencer Glacier, the railroad tracks head into the mountains through a narrow pass and a tunnel, hence the name. Find your way back into this canyon to find these routes. This area holds a high concentration of climbs in close proximity to each other.
ALERT: Understand that if you walk on the train tracks you are trespassing on Alaska Railroad property.
