Freer’s Tears

This route exists of a fat wide pillar situated up high on the south side of the canyon near the toe of the glacier. This route forms from the Bellicose-Benign Col and is named in memory of American Climber Catherine Freer who was lost on Mt. Logan at the time of the first ascent.

From the Glenn Hwy, take the Eklutna Lake turnoff then follow the road back to the Eklutna Lake parking lot (State Parks). From the parking lot one can either ski, hike, bike, ATV, or snow machine to the back of Eklutna Lake. At the back of the lake follow the Eklutna Glacier Trail back into the canyon. This route is located on the south side of the canyon, high up a gully.
